brink: (Serious | Upset | This secret we have)

Hijacked dream party

Tonight's dream party is, unconventionally enough, not organised by the rift, but by Topher!

Thing is, he was sort of supposed to only pull in a few very specific, targeted people, and all of a sudden, this whole lot comes pouring in. See, he's working with someone with the power of ability amplification, making Topher's dream abilities obscenely powerful for tonight, and he's not quite used to it.

The dreamers will find themselves in an old mansion at nighttime. Lots and lots of rooms; several bedrooms and bathrooms of various sizes, studies, library, sitting rooms, kitchen, dining rooms, games/billiards room, even secret passageways... There's a fire roaring in every grate, everything is warmly lit, with lots of dark corners to sneak off to, comfortable couches, plenty of drinks tables. There's also a pervasive feeling that you're safe, that you can relax. That whispered secrets in the dark will be kept. And everyone will feel much less compelled to judge or mock upon hearing those secrets. A night for confessions. All of a sudden, it's hard to resist opening up...

Of course, the dreamers don't know there's someone listening in, seeing everything that goes on, sometimes even manipulating things to go the way he wants. Certain people with psychic/telepathic/dream abilities may eventually cotton on, though. But it'll take a while. But the secrets you tell in the meantime may not remain secrets for that long. Especially if those secrets are useful to certain other important players in the city, quite apart from the two factions our rifties have become familiar with.

[Mod note: Usual dream party rules apply. All players and characters are welcome, current members or no. Characters will remember or forget all dream events at players' discretion. Bear in mind that any events or information shared in this dream will be available to Topher, and, by extension, probably his bosses, such as Beatrice.]

It's rare he gets to pose dramatically and it's going to get rarer when the pregnancy starts showing. Andrew grins and strolls into the room, hands still in pockets as he looks over the setup. "As of now? Yes. I have to warn you, though, I'm something of a genius."

"I have you warn you; I don't care." He really, really doesn't. He has great depths of not caring about relative intelligence. That the Doctor had to tell him about it definitely tells him something about the guy, though.

"You will when I show you how it's done," says Andrew cockily, coming over and grabbing a pool cue. "I'm Andrew, and you are?"

"Unimpressed." Okay, a little impressed in the way that he's impressed by most confident people, but definitely not outwardly showing it. He looks him over, and raises an eyebrow when he gets to the shoes. "What are you supposed to be?" He's judging you for those trainers, Andrew.

He proceeds to the table without waiting for a response, and leans with his cue to break. He's making a bit of a show of it, taking time to line up the shot and keep the form right. The nine ball slides into the side pocket, and he smiles. "Solids for me, then." His next move lands as well, and he wanders around to the other side of the table to set up a third shot. This one glances off the pocket and doesn't do much of anything.

Spike huffs and lifts the cue up to rest against his shoulder. "Your go, beanpole."

"An alien," shrugs Andrew, tilting his head as he watches the other man break. It looks like Unimpressed here is actually a decent player. Fortunately, Andrew's still got enough Time Lord know-how in his head for this particular human game to be literally child's play. He paces around the table, eyes mapping out the lay of the balls, then stops and leans over the table to pop off a quick, careless-looking shot that pockets the fifteen ball. "Really, a lot of worlds would be better places if everyone chose more practical footwear." Another goes in the same way in quick succession, and he grins at Unimpressed and waggles his eyebrows in a smug way that makes it really embarrassing when he tries to do it a third time and doesn't even come close.

"An alien. They told me aliens, I expected little green men with a fascination for anal probing."' The whole alien thing isn't entirely believable yet, but he happens to be a mythological creature, so he's not going to assume that Andrew is lying either.

Spike goes to take a shot, but its a particularly difficult set up and he doesn't make it. Supernatural powers may give him some advantages, but pool isn't usually one of them. "The name's Spike."

"Well, it's a better name than Unimpressed, I'll give you that." Look, he's not even going to gloat over the missed shot. Andrew pockets his third ball, less cocky this time. All the same, the next is too difficult, and he straightens back up after a miss. "And that's a really narrow view of things. Hardly any species are both those things."

"No aliens where I'm from." He walks around the table, hoping for another angle on the shot he'd missed earlier. "Vampires, though. Werewolves. That kind of thing."

"Vampires and werewolves we've got," replies Andrew. "Typically not on Earth, though, or at least not native."
